Sometimes life nudges us in unexpected directions.

Before The Gift Witch Store came into being, my working life was spent in early years education — a world of creativity, patience, and nurturing curiosity in the very youngest learners. It was work I valued deeply, but circumstances eventually required me to retire earlier than I had planned after suffering two slipped discs.

Like many turning points, that period came with a mixture of reflection and uncertainty. Yet something rather interesting began to happen. Friends — quite firmly, I might add — reminded me that I had always had a particular knack for finding gifts. Whether for birthdays, celebrations, or those moments when someone simply needed cheering, I seemed able to locate just the right thing.

They jokingly called it “magic”. I prefer to think of it as curiosity, attentiveness, and perhaps a fondness for the unusual — the ability to notice what might delight someone and then go searching until it is found.

That gentle encouragement planted a seed. If I enjoyed discovering meaningful, beautiful, or whimsical objects for others, why not create a space where I could share that instinct more widely?

And so, The Gift Witch Store came to life — not through grand strategy, but through experience, friendship, and a willingness to embrace a Plan B when life redirected the path.

Today, the shop reflects that journey. Each item is chosen with care and imagination, guided by the same sense of wonder that friends once teased me about. Whether you believe in magic or simply appreciate thoughtful selection, my hope is that you might discover something here that feels just right — either for yourself or for someone special.
